| Personal Statement:I've achieved success in my academic life and, even more importantly, I've learned how to teach these same skills to others so they can achieve great success as well. I went to UC Berkeley on a full four-year scholarship (initially pre-med) and decided to switch to pre-law. As a result, I have a wide range of experience with different subjects, both as a student then and as a tutor for high school and middle school students. After graduating with high honors in Rhetoric and Political Science, I worked for a couple of years and then attended law school, which I finished this past May.As a product of California's public schools, I know how important the combination of personal dedication as well as a support system of teachers and tutors are to each student's success. Ask any one of my success stories, and they'll say it was me, plus what I taught and pushed them to do. Even more than that, I like teaching and I like it when the student looks forward to class and thrives on doing well, so I make sure to tailor my programs and teaching style to each student. To that end, I discuss with the student what has worked and what hasn't for him/her in the past. Understanding this together has always been key. I believe in practice and hard work, but I also understand that tutors are often effective because they know how to give the work the student needs without giving anything more that is unnecessary.
